Upgrade your Sony CRT projector by adding two HDMI 1.4 inputs with 3D support, gamma correction and infrared remote control.  Don't be stuck watching PS3, Blu-ray, HD-DVD, and DVD at only 480p. Add digital HDCP-compliant HDMI 1.4 inputs allowing you to watch hi-def content at up to 1080p resolution.

Widescreen Review Magazine uses Moome HDMI cards in their reference theaters featuring Sony G90 and Runco 1200 CRT projectors.  "We love our 9-inch CRT projectors, even though we have our pick of the leading edge D-ILA, SXRD, and DLP projectors." - Gary Reber, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher, Widescreen Review

The IFB-FULLHD card allows you easily connect digital devices such as Blu-Ray players, PS3/PS4, Xbox360/XboxOne, Satellite/Cable HDTV set-top boxes, and HTPCs with HDMI graphic cards (to name a few) to your Sony CRT projector. Simply plug the card into your projector, your DVI/HDMI devices into the card, and watch.

How does the 3D work?

When used together with a Radiance video processor, the IFB-FULLHD v3 HDMI card allows 3D movies, games, and other content to be viewed on your Sony CRT projector.  The Radiance does the processing to convert the 3D signal into something your Sony CRT projector can understand and display, while the IFB-FULLHD v3 HDMI card interfaces with and controls your 3D glasses. Enjoy 3D at 720p120Hz or even at custom resolutions like 1080p75Hz.

The Optoma 3D-XL or Viewsonic VP3D1 3D video processors have also been tested with this HDMI card. Unlike the Radiance however, the output resolution is fixed at 720p120Hz.

Any Infrared (IR) Active Shutter glasses or Radio Frequency (RF) Active Shutter glasses that include an emitter will work with the IFB-FULLHD v3 card as long as the emitter has the standard 3-pin DIN connector.

Overview

This product is a culmination of everything Moome has learnt over years of building DVI/HDMI input cards for CRT projectors. It is by far the highest end Sony card he has yet to offer with new features such as: Two 100% HDMI 1.4 compliant inputs for Radiance 3D support (3D glasses & emitter sold separately), Deep Colour support, better discrete 14bit D/A converters, faster 1GHz output buffer, and better op-amps for the best image quality possible.

Supply is limited and tends to sell out fast as this high-end product for the discriminating videophile is only built in small batches. This is the last HDMI input card you will ever buy for your Sony CRT projector.

Works with any Sony CRT projector, TV, or other product with an IFB slot. This includes:

  • Sony VPH-1251, 1252, 1270, 1271, 1272, 1292 CRT projectors
  • Sony VPH-G70, VPH-G90 CRT projectors
  • Sony VPH-D50 CRT projectors (not all have IFB slots - see below)
  • Sony PC-1270, 1271(M), 3000 switchers
  • Sony RVP-6010Q Rear projection TVs

Some Sony CRT projectors (most notably the Sony VPH-D50HTU) do not have an IFB slot. The HTU adapter must be used in order to plug in the IFB-FULLHD board. The HTU adapter board will also work with all earlier DVI/HDMI Sony cards by Moome.

How can I tell if my Sony D50 has an IFB slot?

Unlike the other CRT projectors mentioned above, not all Sony D50 CRT projectors have IFB slots. The easiest way to tell is to simply look at the rear of your Sony D50 for a slot that looks like the following:

In this picture the IFB slot is taken up by the remote card. This (useless) remote card is removed via the two turn screws to allow the installation of the IFB-FULLHD card. Other D50 projectors may have a blank faceplate instead that can be removed in the same manner. If a card is already installed in the slot but you have nothing connected to it, it may be safely removed allowing the installation of the IFB-FULLHD card.

Typically the UK version of the Sony D50HT does not have an IFB slot while other versions of the D50HT and all versions of the D50Q and D50GM do have IFB slots. It's always best to check your model to make sure you have a slot so that you know if the HTU adapter is required.

Reviews/Testimonials

"Moome's original design squashed (attenuated) 65% of the full bandwidth when running 1080p 60Hz. With the new circuit, the FULLHD v2 now can resolve the entire 1080p 60Hz signal. With Moome's new design his card is the first and only option that can do full 1080p and YCbCr... the image is amazing!" - Craig Rounds, official FULLHD v2 tester, professional calibrator (www.cir-engineering.com)

"In a word - fantastic. I don't really have the vocabulary or breadth of equipment knowledge to properly express what I am seeing. But the card puts me in the studio with CNN, FOX, MSNBC. It puts me on the field with the Cowboys. It puts me next to the telecine operators on "Ironman" and "The Fifth Element" and "The Dark Knight" and "Casino Royal." I can not only see the layers and outlines and overly-smooth makeup on broadcasters' faces, I can see flakes of it trying to break away. Hair is wispy and delicate and multicolored as it drifts away from faces. It's like a few breakthroughs I have experienced in decades of audio - a real game changer... DO THIS, FOLKS!!!" - Hlmiii

"I received my card yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 10/27/09). It was installed to replace the prior version from last year, which was itself an "upgrade" from Moome's first Sony card. Reference: (source) > Lumagen Radiance > G-90 @ 1080p 60Hz. The new card is a definite and noticeable improvement. The most obvious difference is the reduced noise - the existence of which wasn't apparent until made (in)visible by the new card. Along with that is an image with improved resolution and better-defined contrast transitions. My guess is that these latter two improvements are due to faster step response (?). White - black dynamic range is also increased. In short the card provides the improvements as claimed in its product descriptions. I was hesitant to believe and see improvement - and spend money yet again on the same general product. But now having seen the results I am very happy with Moome's effort in reworking his previous product and would definitely classify it as worth every penny. Highly recommended. Thanks." - Hlmiii

"Received my v2 card yesterday and installed it right away inside my VPH-G90 projector after removing the older IFB-FULLHD card from the B slot. I'm running an HTPC and the Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player on a 3m wide 16:9 screen. Tested with the High Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc from Spears and Munsil. I've used the low level test patterns (with BTB information) and the improvement on video noise figure is clearly seen." - JohnHWman
