Customers of E-Tech Systems have mentioned that fan noise is distracting some times, so an acoustic engineer was brought in and upgrades were developed to greatly reduce fan noise without compromising projector reliability. Far too many fan mods are simple untested 'hacks' that end up running the projector hotter than it should, reducing lifespan. Here's how the E-Tech fan mod works:

• The Marquee fan noise mod is done to your low voltage power supply (LVPS), a ten pound metal box which is removable with a screwdriver and sent to E-Tech Systems in Arizona (USA). Removal of the LVPS takes 5 minutes. See here for instructions.
• The mod employs two new high quality Papst 92mm fans and the strategic application of acoustic foam material to dampen resonances in the sheet metal.
• The improvement is about 5-6db, with none of the metallic 'pepper grinder' noise after.
• Your LVPS is also tested remedied of the dreaded filament over-voltage problem that is common to many LVPS's and can destroy a set of CRT tubes very quickly.
• It takes E-Tech systems approximately 2-2.5 hours to apply this modification to your LVPS and test the outcome.
• Typical turnaround is 1-2 days.

This fan mod will help to increase the dynamic range of the audio portion of your home theater. If you've already spent a considerable amount of time and money tweaking the audio side of your home theater, you realize that a low noise floor is an absolute requirement to maintain a high level of audio quality. Less background noise results in a higher dynamic range.

This mod works on any projector based on the Marquee chassis which includes:  Marquee 7xxx/8xxx/9xxx, Vidikron Vision One/Two, Madrigal MP8/MP9, Reference Imaging, Accurate Imaging, and VDC series CRT projectors.
