The standard Chroma 5 colorimeter (also sold as the Sencore ColorPro V) is an exceptional product. Its accuracy can approach the EyeOne Pro, and it offers reasonable speed and excellent low-light performance that is typical of this design.

It is also one of the easiest devices to use because it requires no dark reading calibration. (The Display 2/LT requires a dark reading when the meter is initially connected. The EyeOne Pro and the Hubble also require an initial dark reading plus periodic dark readings throughout the calibration session.)

Can my Chroma 5 / Chroma 5 PRO be recalibrated?

Yes*. For the same modest fee, your Chroma 5 can (and should) be periodically recalibrated to the same PRO level to ensure it retains its initial accuracy. This service eliminates the problems associated with exposure to the elements over time. We recommend doing this yearly. See our BUY NOW buttons above. The service includes a certificate of calibration that itemizes all the corrections that were applied to the meter.

Is the Chroma 5 you sell locked or modified to only work with ChromaPure software?

The Chroma 5 is one of the few meters that can be locked or modified such that it only works with one software calibration product. Chroma 5's sold by ChromaPure through CurtPalme.com are not locked or modified in any way. This means that the Chroma 5 will work with ChromaPure calibration software as well as any other software that works with an unlocked/unmodified Chroma 5.

If you already own a Chroma 5 (or Sencore ColorPro V) and would like to use it with ChromaPure you will have to first test your meter to make sure it has not been locked or modified. Contact us for a utility to test this. If the utility works then your meter will work with ChromaPure. If the utility does not work then your meter will unfortunately not work with ChromaPure, and it's likely that it can only be used with the original software it shipped with.

The Chroma 5 is a relatively low cost mass-market device whose tolerances are looser than what you would find with more expensive professional color analyzers.

Our ChromaPure partner has developed a version of the Chroma 5, which they've named the Chroma 5 PRO, that offers substantially enhanced accuracy across multiple display types.

For best accuracy, we recommend calibrating front projectors by taking readings directly off the screen. For a modest fee a universal front projection kit is also available that includes a tripod mount and an opal glass diffuser for those who prefer the higher light levels available from direct lens readings. However, when taking readings in this mode, you should always color correct the results from an offset created by taking readings from the screen without the diffuser.

The Chroma 5 Pro also includes a certificate of calibration that shows the offsets that were applied to all available operating modes.
