ADA has long been a leader in multiroom audio. Not to be outdone, they now incorporate satellite and HD radio into their systems.

A number of manufacturers including InTellon in conjunction with Philips introduced an interesting concept: Send HD signals to remote areas in the home over your AC house wiring. It worked well from what I could see. There’s a transmitter and receiver that simply plug into your sources, then they plug into the wall to transmit and receive the signals.

Other companies were offering similar technologies to transmit HD signals without ripping an existing house apart. CAT 5 cables can also be used to transmit HD signals.

One thing that’s always bugged me is the amount of people that install inwall speakers in low ceilings. That’s absolutely the wrong way to install speakers. Due to the narrow dispersion, you get massive hot spots directly below each speaker, and little sound around the room. I’ve installed all of my inwall speakers in my home in the walls. You get much better sound coverage. Here’s a unique way though to keep the speakers in the ceiling, but by motorizing the speakers, they flip down to give better sound coverage.

Here’s a picture of the Control 4 home control system. I took this picture only for the great implementation of an Ipod in-wall flush mount dock.
