This last image (below) shows bad astigmatism with the H pattern. The poorly set
astig magnets show a distinct flare downwards and to the right:
Note that all of the above images were taken by misadjusting only the electronic
focusing and astig magnets. No trick photography was used to enhance these
photos.
Once the astig magnets around the tubes have been set, seal them back with a
blob of clear silicone. These should not need adjusting again for the life of
the tube. Then proceed to the electronic focusing and electronic astig
adjustment if the set has it available.
Note of course that proper Scheimpflug and optical lens adjustment also need
to be set properly for the best optical focusing.
One last thing to note: Some internal projector test patterns (Barco
specifically) may not be perfectly round. For best results use an external test
pattern DVD Such as AVIA.
