Video Problems: Quad Decoder Board

The quad decoder board is located next to the RGB switcher board. The Quad decoder converts the incoming video and Svideo signals to RGB, and automatically selects the signal format of the incoming signal, be it NTSC, PAL or SECAM. The output of the RGB switcher board is actually routed back through the quad decoder board before it goes out to the RGB amplifiers and finally to the CRTs. It’s rare for the RGB section of the quad decoder board to go bad, but I have had a few sets lose one color in this final stage before it goes to the RGB output amplifiers.
