CRT layout

There’s no big surprises in the CRT section of the Barco 70X chassis. The tubes are ES focusing and therefore have no EM focusing coil as the EM tubed sets do. THE astig magnets are butted right up to the CRT video output socket. The two gain controls on the video output boards should NOT be touched, as the white balance will be thrown off. The HV splitter is the same as other Barco sets. Note that the white wire going to the little PC board has two solder connections to it. Do not cut this wire when removing the splitter, desolder both points and solder them back to the same places when installing the new splitter.

Take care to properly dress the HV leads so that they don’t get pinched when the convergence heatsink comes down in close proximity to the splitter.

LIDO (optional line doubler)

Some Barco's come with a built in line doubler to take a standard definition 480i signal to 480p.  Not much use these days with most sources having building in doublers/scalers or are high definition to begin with. Still useful for feeding old composite 480i signals (VHS, PlayStation 2, laserdisc, etc.) into your Barco however! The Barco 808, 1208/1209 all use the same LIDO board as well:
